Schmidt-Bretten SIGMA X is relevant for plants where heat transfer has a direct effect on product quality, energy use and process continuity. It is selected for clean, homogeneous and solids-free liquids where very small temperature approaches and high heat-transfer efficiency are required. For engineers and maintenance teams, the main value is a configurable exchanger concept that can be matched to heat duty, media properties, pressure drop and cleaning strategy without oversizing the installation.
SIGMA X is applied where the temperature difference between warm and cold media is tight. The thinner plate construction reduces thermal resistance and supports high heat-transfer coefficients in compact equipment. Schmidt-Bretten plate technology uses corrugated plate geometry to generate turbulence and support effective distribution across the heat-transfer surface. Depending on the variant, the exchanger can be configured with suitable plate material, gasket concept, connection type and frame arrangement so the thermal solution fits the actual process rather than a generic duty point.
Key technical parameters include thin-film plates, partly patented herringbone corrugations, plate gap heights below 2.5 mm and flow rates up to 750 m³/h. Across the SIGMA family, available materials include stainless steels and special alloys, while gasket options include standard elastomers and PTFE-coated or application-specific variants where appropriate.
