Product features
- Verified actuator controls architecture → AM is AUMA’s straightforward actuator-control platform for parallel signal transmission where only a limited number of feedback signals is required.
- Current performance data → Commissioning parameters are set with switches, local controls include selector switch, push buttons and indication lights, and an optional 0/4–20 mA valve-position signal can be provided..
- Manual operating provision → Allows local intervention during commissioning, maintenance or loss of normal remote control.
- High enclosure protection options → Supports reliable operation in demanding industrial and outdoor environments when the correct configuration is selected.
- Corrosion-protection options → Helps extend service life in aggressive atmospheres and reduces the risk of premature external degradation.
- Control and feedback flexibility → Simplifies integration with plant control systems and lets users select only the signals and functions required.
- Diagnostic capability → Provides condition information that can support maintenance planning and reduce avoidable troubleshooting time.
- Modular AUMA platform → Makes it easier to combine actuator, controls and accessories for the required valve and process duty.
- Serviceable construction → Supports lifecycle maintenance, spare-parts planning and repair instead of treating the actuator as a disposable component.
- AxFlow application support → AxFlow can help check valve interface, torque, duty class, controls and environmental requirements before selection.
Reliable valve automation depends on matching the actuator to the valve mechanics, required duty class, control philosophy and site conditions. AUMA AM is intended for applications where repeatable remote operation and clear status feedback are important to process continuity, whether the valve is used for isolation, positioning or modulating control.
AM is AUMA’s straightforward actuator-control platform for parallel signal transmission where only a limited number of feedback signals is required. Control is based on OPEN, STOP and CLOSE commands, with end-position and collective-fault feedback to the DCS. The operating principle and control architecture are selected to suit the specific valve movement and duty, helping avoid unnecessary mechanical stress and ensuring that the actuator delivers the required movement rather than simply maximum power.
Commissioning parameters are set with switches, local controls include selector switch, push buttons and indication lights, and an optional 0/4–20 mA valve-position signal can be provided. These verified characteristics give engineers a practical basis for comparing actuator size, duty, interfaces and environmental suitability. Exact torque margin, speed, supply, flange/interface, controls, functional-safety requirement and ambient conditions should be checked for the individual valve and project.
From a total-cost-of-ownership perspective, correct sizing and control selection can reduce commissioning issues, unnecessary wear and unplanned intervention. AUMA's serviceable modular architecture also supports maintenance and spare-parts planning over the installed life. AxFlow can support product selection, replacement assessment, service and spare-parts requirements; contact AxFlow for availability and a quote.
