BAC FB Metal is intended for severe industrial shut-off duties where high temperature, abrasion or demanding media make a metal-seated ball valve appropriate. Within BAC’s metal-to-metal range, the FB configuration combines full bore flow with a split body and floating ball. This makes it relevant to chemical, gas, LPG and oil & gas applications where valve selection must balance isolation performance, material compatibility and resistance to harsh service conditions.
The valve uses metal-to-metal seats together with a graphite, self-adjusting double stuffing box. BAC specifies ISO 15848 Class BH fugitive-emission performance and wetted internal parts in accordance with ANSI/NACE MR0175/ISO 15156. Depending on the duty, BAC applies hard-facing materials or coatings including tungsten carbide, chromium carbide or Stellite to address temperature and abrasive wear mechanisms.
For the FB high-temperature configuration, BAC states service at temperatures above 250 °C and standard shut-off performance according to ISO 5208 Rate D. The FB range is listed in Class 150-300 from 1/2 to 8 inches and in PN16-40 from DN15 to DN200. The range follows ISO 17292 design principles, ISO 5211 actuator mounting and fire-safe testing to EN ISO 10497 / API 607.
Metal-seated valve selection is highly dependent on the actual temperature, differential pressure, solids loading, cycling frequency and media chemistry. Matching the seat treatment, body material and pressure class to the service can reduce premature wear and improve maintenance predictability.
