ZUWA VORTEX

ZUWA VORTEX is a submersible wastewater pump range for dirty water, sewage and drainage duties with model-dependent free passage up to 55 mm. Cast-iron and stainless-steel versions cover standard wastewater as well as more corrosive liquids, and selected ATEX variants are available for hazardous areas. Contact AxFlow for VORTEX model selection, availability and a quote.

Product features

  • Submersible wastewater design → enables pumping directly from sumps, shafts and flooded areas
  • Free passage up to 55 mm → handles solids that would block many clear-water pumps
  • Cast-iron versions → provide robust construction for standard wastewater duties
  • Stainless-steel NIRO versions → extend suitability to more corrosive liquids
  • Float-switch options → enable automatic start and stop with changing water level
  • IP68 motor protection → supports submerged operation
  • Selected ATEX variants → provide certified options for applicable hazardous areas
  • Multiple flow and outlet sizes → allow the range to cover small and larger drainage duties
  • Model-specific pH and temperature ranges → support selection for different wastewater chemistries
  • AxFlow service support → helps with model selection, replacement pumps and lifecycle maintenance

Description

ZUWA VORTEX submersible pumps are intended for wastewater, dirty water, drainage and dewatering duties where solids and suspended material make a clear-water pump unsuitable. Typical applications include sumps, shafts, floodwater removal, wastewater transfer, biogas-related duties and general site drainage.

The VORTEX range includes cast-iron pumps for common wastewater duties and stainless-steel NIRO versions for more aggressive liquids such as salt-containing or chemical wastewater. Depending on model, free passage reaches up to 55 mm, while current published examples range from compact VORTEX 50 units to larger VORTEX and VORTEX NIRO pumps with substantially higher flow. Many 230 V versions are available with float switches for automatic level-dependent operation.

Current ZUWA data also includes ATEX versions for selected wastewater applications and IP68 submersible motor protection across the range. Stainless-steel NIRO models extend chemical resistance, while model-specific pH, temperature, solids passage and maximum immersion depth define where each pump can be used safely.

Selection should therefore be based on required flow and head, solids size, liquid chemistry, temperature, electrical supply and whether automatic level control or ATEX certification is needed. AxFlow can help select the correct VORTEX model, support installation and service, and identify replacement pumps or spare parts for existing installations.

VORTEX pumps are used for wastewater, dirty water, drainage and dewatering. Typical locations include sumps, shafts, flooded areas and wastewater systems. The selected model must match the solids content, flow and head required by the site.
ZUWA publishes free passage up to 55 mm for parts of the current range. The exact passage varies significantly by model. Always select the pump using the particle size and solids characteristics of the actual wastewater.
VORTEX NIRO versions use stainless-steel construction for more aggressive wastewater. They are relevant for applications such as salt-containing water or selected chemical effluents. The actual pH, temperature and chemical compatibility must still be checked against the model specification.
Many 230 V VORTEX models are available with float switches for automatic level control. ZUWA also offers selected ATEX wastewater-pump variants. The hazardous-area certification and complete electrical installation must be verified for the site.
AxFlow can compare the installed pump with current VORTEX flow, head, solids and material options. Connection size, electrical supply and control method should also be checked. This helps identify a replacement without assuming that two pumps are automatically interchangeable.
