Product Description

Honeywell Enraf FlexLine Radar 990 is used where bulk-storage operators need highly accurate, continuous level data for inventory management, custody transfer and overfill-related functions. It is relevant for refineries, tank terminals and petrochemical storage where measurement stability directly affects stock reconciliation, transfer control and operational safety. Its non-contact radar principle avoids moving parts in the process and supports long-term measurement in large tanks.

The instrument uses FMCW radar with Honeywell Enraf planar or horn antenna technology and Enhanced Performance Signal Processing. These features help separate the true product echo from reflections caused by tank roofs, shells, stilling wells and internal structures. Antenna choice can be adapted to the installation, allowing the same platform to address free-space and stilling-well applications.

Current Honeywell data specifies a measuring range up to 75 m, resolution of 0.1 mm and accuracy classes down to ±0.4 mm for Xtreme Performance configurations. Process temperature is specified from -200 to +250 °C, while process pressure is up to 6 bar with planar antennas or up to 40 bar with horn antennas. The platform is available with legal-metrology approvals and SIL 2/SIL 3 certified configurations for selected safety functions.

Because the gauge is non-contact and integrates advanced diagnostics, routine mechanical wear points are limited compared with contact-based technologies. Correct antenna selection, commissioning and periodic verification remain essential for reliable service, particularly in custody-transfer and overfill applications.
