JJ BCN J4C is a quarter-turn electric actuator family for valves that operate through approximately 90 degrees, primarily ball and butterfly valves. The range is used in water treatment, irrigation, filtration, HVAC, chemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, marine and other industrial systems where repeatable remote valve operation is required. It is suitable for both plastic and metal valves, provided the actuator is correctly sized for the valve torque and mounting interface.
The current J4C range covers published operational torque from 20 to 300 Nm. S versions accept 24–240 VAC/VDC, while B versions are intended for 12 VAC/VDC supply, and the actuator motors use 24 VDC brushless technology internally. Electronic torque control stops the actuator if motor consumption indicates excessive load, helping protect the actuator and connected valve, while the declutchable manual emergency control allows the valve to be operated manually when required.
J4C actuators include open/closed position feedback through auxiliary microswitches and are available with additional automation options. Depending on configuration, these include the DPS digital positioning system for 4–20 mA, 0–20 mA, 0–10 V or 1–10 V signals, battery fail-safe return, Bluetooth and Modbus communication. Current J4C documentation also specifies IP67 enclosure protection and an automatic internal heater to reduce condensation risk.
From a lifecycle perspective, the brushless motor reduces wear associated with brushes and supports high-cycle automation, while modular electronics and the split-PCB concept simplify component replacement. Correct sizing remains essential because valve break torque, differential pressure, seat material, operating frequency and environmental conditions all influence actuator performance. AxFlow can help select the correct J4C torque size, mounting arrangement and control package for the application and support future service and replacement requirements.
