NOV Mono Chopper Hopper is used where bulky organic material must be reduced and transferred as a pumpable mass. Typical duties include food-processing waste, product recovery, rendering, slaughterhouse residues and biomass preparation for biogas production. Combining size reduction with transfer pumping helps operators move difficult feedstocks into the next process stage with fewer separate handling steps.

The unit combines aggressive cutting with further grinding stages and a progressing cavity pump. Angled cutters grab and tear large objects, while subsequent reduction stages produce a more homogeneous feed before it enters the pump. The progressing cavity element then transfers the prepared material with a low-friction gear-joint arrangement intended to support reliable operation under demanding solids-handling conditions.

NOV states that the Chopper Hopper can reduce solids as large as whole watermelons to particles below 1 in. (approximately 2.5 cm) in a single pass.
