Grundfos DME is intended for chemical dosing duties where repeatable metering and a broad adjustable capacity range are important to process control. The series is used in industrial and water-treatment systems and covers larger dosing quantities than compact SMART Digital S pumps. Correct selection must account for required dose rate, discharge pressure, liquid viscosity, chemical compatibility and control interface.
DME uses a digital diaphragm principle with an internal step-motor drive. Grundfos states a turn-down ratio of 1:800 with constant 100% stroke length, so capacity is controlled by stroke speed rather than by reducing stroke length. Adjustable SlowMode is available for high-viscosity liquids, and the manufacturer documentation lists control variants for integration with external signals and dosing systems.
AxFlow publishes two key DME variants: 375 l/h at up to 10 bar and 940 l/h at up to 4 bar. Manufacturer data lists a liquid-temperature range of 0 to 50 °C, repeatability of ±1% and viscosity up to 3000 mPa·s with spring-loaded valves under specified conditions. These limits are configuration-dependent and must be checked against the selected pump and chemical.
Digital speed control with full stroke length can simplify capacity adjustment and maintain a consistent diaphragm motion across the setting range. SlowMode can support difficult suction conditions for more viscous liquids when correctly configured. Selecting compatible head, valve and gasket materials and planning service around the actual duty helps reduce dosing interruptions, incorrect spare-part orders and unplanned maintenance.
