AxFlow Oceania acquires Thornhill Australia

AxFlow Oceania acquires Thornhill Australia, strengthening its plate heat exchanger service offering

The acquisition of Thornhill Australia brings together over 30 years of plate heat exchanger expertise and strong local service capabilities with AxFlow’s broader flow technology offering, creating new value for customers and growth opportunities for employees.

Established in 1992, Thornhill Australia has built a strong position in the Australian market through its specialist technical expertise, extensive parts inventory and customer-focused service. The company operates service facilities in Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide and supports customers nationally across industries including food and beverage, dairy, brewing, HVAC, chemicals, mining, energy, public utilities and marine.

The acquisition is an important step in AxFlow’s strategy to build a leading service offering around plate heat exchangers (PHE) and further strengthens AxFlow Oceania’s ability to support customers throughout the lifecycle of their process equipment.

More capabilities for customers
For customers, the combination brings together complementary expertise and creates access to a broader range of products, spare parts, services and technical capabilities.

Thornhill Australia provides comprehensive PHE services, including workshop and on-site servicing, plate refurbishment, gasket replacement, cleaning, crack detection and testing, together with an extensive range of OEM and aftermarket spare parts. Its substantial local inventory helps customers obtain critical parts quickly and minimise costly equipment downtime.

As part of AxFlow, Thornhill will be able to draw on additional expertise, technology and resources from across the Group. At the same time, AxFlow customers will gain access to Thornhill’s specialist PHE capabilities and experience.

Ole Weiner, CEO, AxFlow Group, says:
“Thornhill Australia, with their expertise and strong customer relationships in Australia, is an excellent addition to AxFlow and an important step in our global strategy to build a strong service business.”

Michael Briggs, Managing Director, AxFlow Oceania, says:
“Thornhill has built an impressive business based on technical expertise, responsiveness and a deep understanding of its customers’ operations. By bringing Thornhill and AxFlow together, we can build on those strengths while giving customers access to a wider range of solutions and expertise. There are particularly exciting opportunities to connect Thornhill’s service capabilities with the wider AxFlow offering. For Thornhill employees, becoming part of AxFlow opens opportunities to collaborate with colleagues and specialists across an international group while continuing to build on the expertise and customer relationships that have made Thornhill successful.”

Nick Adami, owner and Managing Director of Thornhill Australia, says:
“Joining AxFlow creates an exciting next chapter for Thornhill. We have always focused on providing our customers with specialist expertise, reliable service and the parts and support they need to keep their operations running. AxFlow shares that customer focus and gives our team access to a much wider network of expertise and capabilities. In addition, this creates opportunities for growth, and I look forward to continuing to develop the business together with AxFlow.”

Thornhill’s management will continue to lead the business together with AxFlow.
