OCTONIQ – Cleaning-in-Place system

OCTONIQ is a modular Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) system from AxFlow Systems, designed for automated and reproducible cleaning of process installations.

Description

OCTONIQ is a modular and fully automated Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) system from AxFlow Systems. The system is developed for cleaning process installations without disassembly and is used in production environments where hygiene, reproducibility and compliance are essential.

The system cleans tanks, pipelines, pumps and heat exchangers without disassembly, with full control over flow, temperature, chemistry and time. Through smart automation, inline heating and real-time monitoring, OCTONIQ reduces the consumption of water, chemicals and energy, while safeguarding hygiene and product safety.

Which industries is OCTONIQ suitable for?

OCTONIQ is used in production environments where hygiene, reliability and compliance are critical, including:

  • Food industry
  • Pharmaceutical and biotechnological production
  • Chemical industry
  • Cosmetics and personal care

The system is suitable for both batch and continuous processes and can serve multiple production lines.

Why an optimised CIP system is essential

In modern production environments, Cleaning-in-Place is indispensable for ensuring product quality and food safety. A poorly designed or incorrectly configured CIP system can result in incomplete cleaning, increased risk of cross-contamination, longer downtime and unnecessary consumption of resources. This has direct consequences for both product safety and operational costs.

A well-designed CIP system, on the other hand, ensures consistent cleaning, predictable cycle times and reliable control of hygienic processes. OCTONIQ has been developed to achieve this balance and supports companies in optimising their cleaning strategy.

How does the OCTONIQ CIP system work?

The operation of OCTONIQ is based on the four fundamental pillars of effective CIP cleaning: mechanical energy, chemistry, temperature and time. The system automatically monitors and controls these parameters during each cleaning cycle, ensuring optimal cleaning performance with minimal use of resources.

1. Mechanical energy (flow and turbulence)

Mechanical energy is generated by controlled flow and turbulence of the cleaning fluid through the system. By carefully designing pipe diameters, fluid velocities and spray points, contamination is effectively loosened and removed without excessive energy consumption.

2. Chemistry (cleaning and disinfection)

The chemical action is tailored to the type of contamination and the materials of the installation. OCTONIQ supports both alkaline and acidic cleaning agents and can be used for disinfection processes. The selection of cleaning chemistry is determined in consultation with cleaning specialists and depends entirely on the application.

3. Temperature (thermal energy)

Temperature plays a key role in accelerating chemical reactions and dissolving fats and proteins. Thanks to inline heating, OCTONIQ can quickly bring cleaning solutions to the required temperature, ranging from low to high temperatures, with a maximum of 135 °C. This enables both mild cleaning cycles and intensive CIP and sterilisation processes.

4. Time (contact time and cycle time)

Finally, the system controls the required contact time of cleaning agents and the total cycle time. By accurately tuning these parameters, effective cleaning is achieved without unnecessary production downtime.

Features and functionality of OCTONIQ

OCTONIQ is designed as a modular system that can easily be tailored to the specific requirements of a production process. The system can be deployed in both new installations and existing production lines and is suitable for retrofitting outdated CIP systems. Thanks to integration with existing PLC and SCADA environments, OCTONIQ fits seamlessly into current automation architectures.

During each CIP cycle, process data is automatically monitored and logged. This data forms the basis for traceability, validation and audits, which is essential in environments with strict regulatory requirements.
