EFAR WK6ba/WK6bc ball valves are intended for on/off isolation in water, air, glycol, chilled-water and other Group 2 fluid systems covered by the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU. They are relevant where engineers need a robust quarter-turn valve with a choice between flanged installation and welded pipework. Correct selection helps reduce leakage risk, pressure loss and maintenance disruption in utility and industrial service.
The WK6ba version uses flanged ends, while WK6bc is supplied with weld ends. EFAR specifies a full-bore flow path and floating-ball construction, supporting low restriction through the valve when fully open. Flanged connections are specified to PN-EN 1092-1, with face-to-face dimensions for flanged versions according to PN-EN 558-1 and weld-end lengths according to PN-EN 12982.
The current WK6ba/WK6bc range covers DN15 to DN200. For Group 2 liquid duties, EFAR publishes working pressures from 1.6 to 4.0 MPa and a temperature range from -20 to +160 °C, depending on the selected size and configuration. Final valve selection must still consider the exact medium, pressure-temperature relationship, connection standard and any project-specific compliance requirements.
A full-bore ball valve can reduce avoidable hydraulic resistance, while the simple quarter-turn operating principle supports clear isolation and practical maintenance planning. Choosing the correct connection type at the design stage can also reduce installation work and future replacement complexity. AxFlow can support valve selection, technical checks, service planning and spare-parts identification; contact AxFlow for product selection and availability.
