Product features
- High thermal efficiency: Closely spaced heat-transfer plates provide a large effective surface area within a compact unit, supporting efficient heating and cooling duties.
- Compact installation: Brazed construction eliminates the large frame and gasket arrangement associated with serviceable plate-and-frame exchangers, reducing equipment footprint.
- High-temperature capability: Configurations are specified for operating temperatures up to 240°C, extending application potential across demanding thermal processes.
- Application-specific brazing: Standard models use 99.9% pure copper brazing, while nickel-brazed versions are available for corrosive or acidic fluids requiring alternative material compatibility.
- Broad configuration range: Up to 400 configurations are available, including asymmetric arrangements for applications with different flow rates on each side of the exchanger.
- Robust operating capability: The range supports capacities up to 500 m³/h and differential pressures up to 10 bar, subject to model and configuration.
- Flexible system integration: Multiple connection types and optional polyurethane insulation support specification around piping, thermal and installation requirements.
- Short supply times: Most ParaBrazed models are available quickly, supporting replacement requirements and projects where equipment lead time affects plant availability.
APV ParaBrazed heat exchangers are specified for compact heating, cooling and heat-recovery duties where efficient thermal transfer and limited installation space are important. Applications include HVAC systems, pharmaceutical and chemical processing, domestic hot water, refrigeration, heating and heat reclaim. APV documentation also identifies marine and mobile duties including engine water and oil cooling, fuel temperature control and hydraulic oil cooling.
The brazed plate construction transfers thermal energy between separate media while preventing the process streams from mixing. High thermal efficiency allows substantial heat-transfer capacity to be packaged into a comparatively small exchanger. ParaBrazed units can accommodate flows up to 500 m³/h, differential pressures up to 10 bar and operating temperatures up to 240°C according to the current AxFlow range data. Actual operating limits must be verified for the selected model and duty.
Standard ParaBrazed models are constructed with AISI 316 stainless steel plates and connections, with the plates permanently joined by brazing. Copper at 99.9% purity is specified for standard models, while nickel brazing provides an alternative for applications involving corrosive or acidic fluids. This gasket-free construction removes elastomeric plate seals from the heat-transfer pack and supports operation at elevated pressures and temperatures compared with conventional gasket-dependent arrangements.
The range includes numerous models and up to 400 configurations, allowing thermal performance to be specified against the required flow rates, temperatures and pressure drop. Asymmetric configurations can accommodate different flow conditions on the two sides, while multiple connection arrangements support system integration. Correct selection requires the operating temperatures, fluid properties, flow rates, pressure conditions and material compatibility to be verified before supply. AxFlow also identifies quick availability for most models, reducing replacement lead time where continuity of operation is critical.
