Product features

  • Low- to medium-viscosity processing: The series handles process media up to 30,000 cP, including products containing particles.
  • Multiple thermal duties: Configurations support in-line cooling, heating, pasteurization and sterilization across food and industrial processes.
  • Horizontal or vertical installation: HT horizontal and VT vertical configurations provide flexibility when matching the exchanger to available plant space and process layout.
  • Configurable heat-transfer area: Individual cylinders provide 0.2–0.8 m² of heat-transfer surface, allowing the configuration to be specified around the required thermal duty.
  • Application-specific construction: Cylinder materials include stainless steel and duplex, while scraper materials include PEEK and PTFE.
  • Three shaft diameters: Three optional shaft diameters provide additional flexibility when specifying the exchanger for different product and process requirements.
  • Cleanable process geometry: Tangential connections facilitate cleaning, while single or double flushable mechanical cartridge seals support hygienic operation and maintenance.
  • Defined operating temperature: The series is specified for product temperatures from -10°C to +150°C, supporting a broad range of thermal processing duties.

Product description

APV VT / HT Origin Series is specified for light-duty thermal processes in food production and chemical operations. The range handles products containing particles and low- to medium-viscosity media with a stated maximum viscosity of 30,000 cP. Typical duties include continuous in-line cooling and heating as well as pasteurization and sterilization. Scraped-surface operation makes the platform suitable where product characteristics require active management of the heat-transfer surface.

The series provides heat-transfer areas from 0.2 to 0.8 m² per cylinder or stage and operates across a stated temperature range of -10°C to +150°C. Three optional shaft diameters allow the internal configuration to be matched more closely to the process requirement. The equipment can also be integrated into wider processing systems rather than installed only as an independent exchanger. This combination provides flexibility when specifying thermal treatment around product properties and plant requirements.

Cylinder construction is available in stainless steel or duplex, with PEEK and PTFE specified as scraper materials. Tangential connections are incorporated to facilitate cleaning, supporting applications where product changeover and hygiene influence equipment selection. Mechanical sealing can be specified as a single or double flushable cartridge arrangement. These construction options allow materials and sealing to be selected according to the operating environment and process medium.

The VT / HT Origin platform is available in horizontal HT and vertical VT configurations, providing alternatives for different equipment layouts and integration requirements. Correct specification should verify product viscosity, particle characteristics, required thermal duty, temperature range, cylinder material, scraper material and shaft configuration. Seal arrangement and orientation should likewise be confirmed against the actual installation rather than assumed from the series designation. AxFlow also identifies the Waukesha Votator Origin Series as a comparable product within its portfolio.

APV VT / HT Origin Series is used for hygienic and industrial light-duty applications, particularly in food production and chemical processing. AxFlow specifies in-line cooling, heating, pasteurization and sterilization as primary duties, with the equipment capable of processing low- to medium-viscosity products containing particles.
AxFlow specifies stainless steel and duplex as available cylinder materials, while scraper materials include PEEK and PTFE. The series also provides three optional shaft diameters and single or double flushable mechanical cartridge seals. The exact combination should be specified against the product and operating conditions.
Scraper condition, mechanical sealing and correct configuration are important to maintaining effective heat transfer and reliable operation. Product viscosity and particle characteristics must also remain within the capability of the selected equipment. AxFlow specifies the VT / HT Origin Series for low- to medium-viscosity products with a maximum stated viscosity of 30,000 cP.
Selection should account for thermal duty, product viscosity, particles, operating temperature and installation requirements. Available variables include horizontal HT or vertical VT orientation, heat-transfer areas from 0.2 to 0.8 m² per cylinder, three shaft diameters, stainless-steel or duplex cylinders, PEEK or PTFE scrapers and alternative mechanical-seal arrangements.
The installed orientation, cylinder specification, shaft diameter, scraper material and mechanical-seal arrangement should be verified before ordering replacement equipment or components. Operating temperature, product viscosity and particle characteristics should also be checked against the actual duty. Tangential connections and flushable cartridge-seal options should be accounted for when maintaining the hygienic and service characteristics of the installation.
