APV BLV1 Series ball valves are specified for shutting off or controlling product flow across process piping systems. Typical industries include dairy, food and beverage, chemical processing and personal care, with both hygienic and non-hygienic applications supported. Rotation of the ball aligns or closes the internal bore to establish or interrupt the flow path. The full-port construction minimizes restriction when the valve is completely open.
Operational value comes from combining straightforward ball-valve operation with robust construction and flexible automation. BLV1 valves are available with a lockable manual handle, manual position feedback or pneumatic actuation. Normally closed, normally open and double-acting pneumatic actuator options are specified, allowing valve operation to be matched to the required process and control philosophy. Automated configurations can also be integrated with APV control-unit technology.
The BLV1 uses a three-piece construction with floating seals and a cavity-filled body that limits residue accumulation around the ball. The ball is constructed from AISI 316L, with an AISI 316 body and reinforced PTFE seats; internal surface finish is specified at ≤0.8 µm Ra. The stainless-steel body and ball are constructed for durability, while the three-piece arrangement provides access for servicing. These features support reliable isolation while simplifying inspection and replacement of applicable sealing components.
BLV1 valves are available in DN15–DN100 and 0.5–4-inch sizes, with butt-weld and clamp connection options identified in APV ordering data. Replacement specification should verify valve size, connections, operating method, actuator arrangement and control requirements before supply. Ball and seat condition, shaft sealing and actuator function should also be incorporated into planned maintenance.
