Product features
- Adjustable-spring actuator → Allows the desired relief cracking pressure to be set directly at the valve
- External relief path → Can protect a pump and process line when discharge pressure exceeds the set value
- CIP bypass in the actuator → Fully opens the valve for cleaning without over-pressurizing the line
- Standard W60/W80 components → Simplify spare-parts and service planning within the same valve platform
- ASTM 316L product-wetted parts → Provide a verified material basis for the process medium
- Tef-Flow P seat as standard → Provides a defined standard seat material
- Multiple body styles → Allow compact relief configurations close to the pump where the installation permits
- Feedback and automation options → Support monitoring of valve function
- W80 flush adapter option → Supports aseptic duties where that configuration is required
- AxFlow sizing support → Helps check cracking pressure, pump data, valve size and CIP function
Waukesha Cherry-Burrell WR60 / WR80 is used where an external over-pressure relief path is needed to protect a pump or process line. If discharge pressure exceeds the set cracking pressure, the valve opens to the relief path, making correct relief-pressure selection and piping design important to process reliability.
The adjustable-spring actuator allows the cracking pressure to be set at the valve using an adjustment screw. The actuator piston can bypass the relief setting and fully open the valve for CIP without over-pressurizing the valve and pipeline. The family uses standard W60/W80 single-seat components, and W80 stem-flush adapters are available for aseptic configurations.
Verified manufacturer data lists ASTM 316L product-wetted parts, Tef-Flow P as the standard seat material and FKM or EPDM elastomers. WR61 air-to-raise valves are offered from 1.5 to 4 inches and WR63 air-to-lower valves from 2 to 4 inches. Pressure ratings vary with size, temperature and hardware and must be checked against the selected configuration.
Using common W60/W80 components can simplify spare-parts planning, while the CIP bypass can reduce cleaning complexity. Correct cracking pressure must be based on pump and system limits rather than a generic setting. AxFlow can support sizing, configuration review, service and quotation.
