Grundfos NB is used in systems that need continuous transfer or circulation of clean, thin liquids in utility and industrial service. Typical applications include water supply, HVAC, cooling, process water, irrigation and related circulation duties. Correct hydraulic sizing is important because operating away from the intended duty point can increase energy use, vibration and component loading.
Grundfos defines NB as a non-self-priming, single-stage centrifugal volute pump with axial inlet and radial outlet. NB pumps comply with EN 733 and use a close-coupled BLOC arrangement, which eliminates a separate bearing bracket and common base plate used on long-coupled designs. The pumped liquid must be compatible with the selected pump materials and, according to Grundfos instructions, should be clean, thin and free of solids or fibres.
AxFlow publishes NB performance up to 1400 m³/h, differential pressure up to 16 bar, head up to 177 m and liquid temperatures from -25 to 120 °C. These are series limits and depend on pump size, materials, seal and motor. Final selection must therefore confirm the system curve, NPSH conditions, liquid properties and actual operating temperature.
The close-coupled design reduces installation footprint and removes separate coupling-alignment tasks associated with long-coupled arrangements. EN 733 dimensional standardization can support replacement planning where the selected size matches the installation. Correct duty-point and material selection helps reduce avoidable wear and gives maintenance teams a more predictable basis for inspection, service and spare-parts planning.
