Trainee Internal Sales& Contracts Engineer

 

 

AxFlow is offering a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee Internal Sales & Contracts Engineer to join our team in Huddersfield. This role is ideal for someone looking to begin or develop a career in mechanical engineering with a focus on technical sales, quotations, and engineering support.

The Role

You’ll support the internal sales and contracts function by helping to prepare quotations, engineering reports, and coordinating customer repairs with our in-house service and repair workshop. This is a varied role involving technical understanding, attention to detail, and regular communication with both customers and internal teams.

Your main duties will include:

  • Support the preparation of quotations and technical reports for the inspection and repair of pumps and mechanical equipment
  • Liaise with customers to understand technical requirements and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Coordinate with workshop engineers to arrange inspections and gather accurate information for quotations
  • Monitor the progress of repairs and ensure work is completed to deadlines and to customer satisfaction
  • Assist with the delivery of projects, ensuring documentation and reporting are up to date
  • Help produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements for on-site works
  • Support with health & safety coordination at the Huddersfield base, including tracking training records

The Candidate This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with a mechanical engineering background looking to start or develop their career in a technical, customer-focused role. We’re seeking a motivated and reliable individual who enjoys working with technical details, solving problems, and communicating effectively with customers and colleagues.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a mechanical engineering qualification
  • Be confident using precision tools such as micrometers, vernier calipers, and dial test indicators
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of Simpro an advantage
  • Have knowledge of pump repair, mechanical seals, or vibration analysis (advantageous)
  • Hold a full, clean driving licence
