Foams

There are many different types of foam including protein foams and fire retardant foams. Generally they all conatin solids and and air bubbles which both cause problems for pumps.

There are 3 common challenges facing engineers when transferring foams.

  • Foams nearly always contain air bubbles which can increase vibration, wear, noise, heat and cavitation in  pumps, while reducing pump performance.
  • Many foams are extremely sensitive to shear and temperature as their performance is usually based on their physical properties.

AxFlow's wide range of UK based positive displacement pumps includes hose, rotary lobe, eccentric rotating disc and a variety of diaphragm pumps; allowing us to offer a choice of solutions.
